Spacing does matter

I’m not sure why storage system, shelving, and TV mount manufacturers have not realized that newer homes are usually constructed with wall studs that are 24” on center and not 16” on center. Sometimes drywall anchors can be used, but often the better solution is to modify the product or add additional structural support. In this case, the home owner was not intending to store heavy objects on the shelf, so modifying the shelf was the simplest solution.

When you are researching any type of these products, do a little research or review the installation manual. It will help with determining if the product can be safely installed in your home or what type of modifications will need to be performed.
